China has acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention<\/h3>\n

The authenticity of the signature on a document and the authority of the issuer of the document are usually confirmed by legalization. This is the only way documents can be used reliably in international document transactions.
\nThe apostille also confirms the authenticity of the signature on a document and the authority of the issuer. However, this is a simplified procedure compared to legalization. The simplified procedure applies to all countries that have joined the Hague Convention (Convention Exempting Foreign Public Documents from Legalization).<\/p>\n

With effect from November 7, 2023, China has now also joined the Hague Convention. For German documents for use in China and for Chinese documents for use in Germany, proof of authenticity is now provided by an apostille, which is issued by the German or Chinese apostille authority. Legalization of the documents with the involvement of the respective foreign missions is no longer necessary. Processes and applications can be made easier through this procedure.
