Former U.S. President Donald Trump, shortly before leaving office, had ordered the end of entry ban of foreigners who had been in the 26 countries of the Schengen area, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Brazil within 14 days before their entry into the United States. US President Joe Biden has extended the Corona Travel Ban indefinitely. According to the proclamation, the previous provisions and exemptions remain unchanged. Foreign nationals will continue to be barred from entering the U.S. on the basis of it if they are not U.S. citizens and have been in the Schengen Area, Brazil, China (except Hong Kong and Macau), Iran, Ireland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and South Africa within 14 days prior to their intended entry.<\/p>\n
Exceptions for, among others, green card holders and for entries that are in the national interest (National Interest Exceptions) continue to apply. It is unclear if there will be changes in the future in regard to the NIE-Requirements.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, all international air travelers entering the U.S. must now provide the airlines with a negative COVID-19 test prior to travel or, alternatively, a certificate stating that they have already had a COVIS-19 illness and have recovered. Depending on the requirements of the destination country, a new Corona test is often required when leaving the USA.<\/p>\n
