U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 lifted the entry bans on green card applicants and foreign workers imposed by his predecessor Donald Trump. Accordingly, holders of valid visas will be allowed to enter the U.S. and green cards will be reissued at U.S. consulates worldwide.<\/p>\n

Biden stated in his announcement that Trump’s executive orders have hindered family reunions and have only damaged the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n
Persons who obtain a new green card outside the United States through the consular process, and thus were previously subject to the immigrant visa ban, may still be affected by the Corona Travel Ban if, for example, they were physically present in the Schengen Area within 14 days prior to their entry.<\/p>\n
The Corona Travel Ban and the Nonimmigrant Visa Ban remain in force without any changes. Both will remain in effect until March 31, 2021.<\/p>\n
Currently, it is unclear when or if the Corona Travel Ban and Nonimmigrant Visa Ban can be expected to be abolished.<\/p>\n
