Since January 1, 2025, new salary limits have applied to the employment of international skilled workers.
For the regular EU Blue Card, the minimum salary increases to 48,300.00 euros, which corresponds to a monthly salary of 4,025.00 euros. Young professionals and IT specialists with the Blue Card in MINT professions must earn at least 43,759.80 euros and therefore 3,646.65 euros per month.
Under the new regulation introduced last year for qualified employment with significant practical professional experience (Section 6 BeschV), a new minimum salary of EUR 43,470.00 applies, which corresponds to a monthly salary of EUR 3,622.50.
The rising salary limits will not only improve the quality of life of workers, but also help strengthen the competitiveness of the European economy.
In addition to the changes to salary limits, the Schengen area was expanded on January 1, 2025. Bulgaria and Romania have now fully joined the Schengen area. Previously, only controls at the air and sea borders had been lifted.
The Schengen area now consists of 29 member states. These include 25 EU member states as well as Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein. This means travelers can travel between these countries without border controls.
