The UK Department for Transport is urgently advising that, from 1 October 2021, passports will no longer be sufficient for EU, EEA and Swiss nationals to enter the UK.
This also applies to lorry and bus drivers travelling in the UK, who must therefore apply for a passport in good time before 1 October 2021 if they do not already have such a document.
We therefore recommend that you apply for a passport at the German authorities if you are planning or intend to travel to the United Kingdom. Please take into account that the issuing of a passport by the German authorities takes several weeks.
