ESTA application now also possible via APP
It has recently become possible not only to register online for visa-free entry into the USA via ESTA, but also via APP. This new APP is called ESTA mobile, you can download it from your APPStore for your mobile phone. According to the APP, you need the following:
- 1 mobile device with NFC functionality
- 1 live photo of the passport holder
- A valid passport from a country participating in the Visa Waiver Program, which must have an RFID chip. You can tell that your passport has this if your passport has a small, gold-colored ICAO symbol* at the bottom of the passport cover
- A valid email address from you
- Your home address and telephone number
- A phone number and email address for your emergency contact
Last but not least, you also have to pay $21 for the ESTA application made in the APP. For both forms of application, whether online or via APP, the application still has to be submitted at least 72 hours or earlier before departure to the USA so that there is enough time for the approval phase.
With ESTA you can enter the USA,
- to go on vacation
- to visit friends and relatives
- to untertake medical examinations or treatments
- to visit business partners/customers/suppliers
- to participtate in business meetings, negotiations or conferences.
With ESTA, you are not allowed to work in the USA, enter into a traditional employment relationship with a US employer, set up a company or invest in a company in the USA, study or train or work as a journalist. You need a visa for these activities.
